The Papers of Robert H. Goddard

Meticulously curated and edited by Esther C. Goddard and G. Edward Pendray, The Papers of Robert H. Goddard is a 1700-page 3 volume set published in 1970. The set presents a careful and exhaustive chronological presentation of Robert Goddard’s life through diary snippets, notebook entries, correspondence, publications, speeches, patent outlines, school papers, press, reports and more.

Following her husband’s death, Esther Goddard continued to devote the rest of her life to relentlessly crafting and promoting the legend and reputation of Robert’s life and work. The idea for this particular project began in 1958, and she soon procured the sponsorship of The Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Foundation thanks to their longtime indispensable support of Harry Guggenheim. By 1963 the project had grown to 3 volumes. These volumes were the main focus of Esther’s work for the decade-plus of its creation.
