Description
The Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant was built in 1952, and began operations at the end of 1954, to increase the government’s capacity to produce highly enriched uranium for naval reactors and the burgeoning nuclear power industry. The purpose of this report is to review the present and past environmental record of the Portsmouth facility, focusing on groundwater and the facilities on the east side of the site.
This research was completed money allocated during Round 1 of the Citizens’ Monitoring and Technical Assessment Fund (MTA Fund). Clark University was named conservator of these works.
