Abstract
In this thesis the question of the character of the population of a city in its relation to the city's industrial activity will be studied. In a city where there is a prevailing industry, will the population tend to be racially heterogeneous, industrially heterogeneous, both, or neither? Three Massachusetts cities, Brockton, Fall River, and Worcester, have been selected for study.
