Description

Photograph of Robert Goddard standing beside a rocket frame and rocket before a test on September 29, 1928. The combustion chamber and nozzle have been placed at the top again after a period of time experimenting with them at the bottom. During this test, the rocket began to rise but became caught in the tower.

'The Goddard Rocket Researches: A Photographic Record' is an annotated photo album covering Robert H. Goddard's work and experimentation with rocketry. It was assembled and curated by Esther Goddard sometime after her husband's passing in 1945. Additionally, almost all of the photographs were taken by Esther herself.
