Richter was there as part of the Henry J. Leir Chair's programming for the 2011-2012 season with a talk called “Walter Benjamin's 'The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction'”. This talk was part of a series called "German Film and Frankfurt School".

Robert Tobin was the inaugural Henry J. Leir Chair in Language, Literature, and Culture from 2008 until his passing in 2022.
