A Reflective Pause

Document Type

Book Chapter

Abstract

The final chapter is organized around the idea of a “Reflective Pause”, signaling that antiracist praxis does not stop at a single initiative or classroom intervention. This is also a moment in the edited volume where the editors take stock from three years of convening the praxis community to offer insights on faculty development communities and antiracist teaching. The chapter is divided into three sections. The first section identifies what constrains faculty from antiracist praxis. The second section offers insights on organizing the antiracist praxis groups and what faculty members learned from participating in them. The last section returns to Kyoko Kishimoto's piece for inspiration on how to extend antiracist pedagogy beyond the classroom to influence institutional policies, hiring practices, community partnerships, and campus culture. © 2026 selection and editorial matter, Jie Y.
