Abstract
Simon Payaslian, Kaloosdian/Mugar Chair of Armenian Genocide Studies and Modern Armenian History at Clark University, will discuss the advent of the United States as a global power and how it coincided with the internationalization of the Armenian question in the late nineteenth century. Professor Payaslian will discuss the Wilson administration (1913-1921) and its policy of promoting American missionary and economic interests, while maintaining friendly relations with the Ottoman government during the Armenian Genocide.
