Simon Payaslian, Kaloosdian/Mugar Chair of Armenian Genocide Studies and Modern Armenian History at Clark University, discusses the advent of the United States as a global power and how it coincided with the internationalization of the Armenian question in the late nineteenth century.
Professor Payaslian also discusses the Wilson administration (1913-1921) and its policy of promoting American missionary and economic interests, while maintaining friendly relations with the Ottoman government during the Armenian Genocide. This talk took place on April 20, 2006 and was sponsored by the Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
