Description

Oral history interview with Sharon Krefetz. This interview documents Sharon Krefetz's more than forty-year career at Clark University as a political scientist, faculty leader, and administrator. She reflects on her experiences as one of the university's early women faculty members, her efforts to expand opportunities for women in academia, the development of Women's Studies at Clark, and the central role of student mentorship in her work. Krefetz also discusses her scholarship on welfare policy and housing, her engagement with the Worcester community, and the influence of her Jewish faith on her commitment to public service and social justice. Together, her reflections offer insight into the changing landscape of higher education, academic leadership, and community engagement from the 1970s to the present.

Note on Transcription Methodology: Interviews were transcribed verbatim to preserve authenticity. Minor editorial interventions were limited to the removal of excessive verbal fillers (e.g., "um," "ah," and repetitive uses of "like") that do not alter meaning or context. No substantive changes were made to interview content, grammar, or narrative structure.
