Local Knowledge: Worcester Area Community-Based Research
DescriptionLocal Knowledge is a data repository developed to enhance the collaboration between Clark University and partners in the Worcester, Massachusetts community. It houses Worcester-based research, descriptions of community organizations and programs, and records of activities or projects between campus and community members. The collaboration is multimedia and aims to provide a variety of resources to individuals seeking information about University and community interactions. It is also a recommended “first stop” for campus members interested in community-based research/collaboration.
In an effort to reduce research fatigue (particularly for those organizations and businesses immediately surrounding the campus), we created the Local Narrative videos of Frequently Asked Questions with Worcester community members.
Looking to submit?
Submissions require a Bepress account registration and take about ten to fifteen minutes to enter. Please be aware that confidentiality, copyright and other considerations mean that your submission will not be made available immediately. Please be sure to provide a valid email address where we can contact you regarding questions or concerns.
Have a project to propose?
If you are a faculty member or community partner with an idea for a community-based research project, please complete the form.
If you have any questions about the Local Knowledge collection or submission guidelines, please contact Micki Davis in the Community Engagement Office.
Scholarly Undergraduate Research Journal at Clark (SURJ) (Student Works)
ISSN 2472-6788
Clark University's Scholarly Undergraduate Research Journal (SURJ) is the institution's first student-run undergraduate interdisciplinary research journal. It aims to promote critical thinking, practical application of knowledge, as well as awareness and recognition of ongoing research throughout the university.
As a completely student-run journal, SURJ members are provided with the opportunity to experience the wide range of publication processes: either as staff member or author. Through the collaboration with SURJ's faculty review boards, the journal seeks to create an avenue for student-faculty partnerships, as well as cross-departmental scholarly dialogue.
Sustainability and Social Justice (Graduate Student Works)
In Sustainability and Social Justice (formerly IDCE - International Development, Community and Environment up until 2024), we strive for a more just and sustainable world. We embrace the complexity of urgent social, political, and ecological problems and seek to approach these challenges through multidisciplinary teaching and learning, collaborative scholarship, and innovation.
We offer master’s degrees in Community Development & Planning, Environmental Science & Policy, International Development, and Geographic Information Science. Our degree programs are organized around nine cross-cutting concentrations, for example ‘Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation’, ‘Refugees, Forced Migration and Belonging’ and ‘Gender and Development’.
