This binder consists of copies of letters that were either sent by Catholicos Sahak Efendi or that were sent to him. A large percentage of the letters were sent to Cemal Pasha, the Patriarchate, the Governor General of Adana and the District Governor of Kozan. There are 26 records in the 24 files.

    Subjects are whether the Armenians who have been deported have had their lives or properties assaulted. If this has occurred, the incidents should be communicated and that whatever assistance and support possible will be extended, and that he hopes to meet in Aleppo [Halep].

    He is ready to act on the authority bestowed upon him regarding any assaults on the property, lives or honor of Armenians who have been sent away due to the deportation.

    In this document which has the characteristics of a report, he states that while weapons that are not even illegal have been collected from Armenians, the same has not been done of the Muslims, that the priests have been insulted and attacked and a village was entirely ransacked purportedly for the purpose of searching for thieves. The Governor of Kozan made statements that violated the brotherhood between two nations when sending the detainees from Zeytun to Marash [Maraş]. He made a show of the suspects and when an arrested Armenian was intentionally killed after being tortured, religious rites were not allowed to be performed on him.

    Even if in the past there have been instances of oppression justified or not, the Armenians have always been treated well by the Ottoman state and by Turks. If they wanted, they [Turks] could have destroyed us but they showed affection. The true enemy are the Russians and the Patriarchate has done nothing about the "committee" even though they are aware of it.
