Abstract and Research Question
Research Question: What are the paths and barriers to HIV testing in Worcester?
Abstract: Research was conducted in the form of in-depth interviews, a focus group, and observations in order to determine what barriers and paths, members of the Worcester community have when getting tested for HIV. The in-depth interviews with HIV positive individuals showed that the most common barriers from testing are fear and stigma. Many stigmas exist towards people living with HIV due to a lack of general knowledge about the disease. It was determined that AIDS Project Worcester does provide anonymous HIV testing and is a resource for individuals who are HIV positive in Worcester.
