Description

Liz Brown is a Worcester native and a Clark University alumna from the class of 2008. A first-generation college student, she studied mathematics as an undergraduate and subsequently earned a Master’s in Education through Clark’s fifth-year program. As a child, she was an honors student and had an early interest in learning that inspired her to choose a career as an educator. In this interview, Liz reflects on her childhood in the Main South and North Worcester neighborhoods, her transition to life as a commuting student at Clark, and her professional evolution as an educator and parent. She discusses her identity as a woman in the STEM field and provides insights into the shifting landscape of modern education. Key themes include the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on student development, the integration of technology and AI in the classroom, and her enduring commitment to the Worcester community.

Note on Transcription Methodology: Interviews were transcribed verbatim to preserve authenticity. Minor editorial interventions were limited to the removal of excessive verbal fillers (e.g., "um," "ah," and repetitive uses of "like") that do not alter meaning or context.
