The spirit of the law: Following the traces of Genocide in the law of abandoned property
Document Type
Article
Abstract
The aim of the article is to explain how the laws and decrees regarding 'abandoned properties' from both the Ottoman and Turkish Republican eras were constructed. The central argument is that, even though these laws and regulations were part of the genocidal program of 1915, they cannot totally deny the rights of Armenians relative to these properties. © 2014 by Koninklijke Brill NV, Leiden, The Netherlands.
