Abstract
The city of Worcester, Massachusetts is in the list of middle-sized cities. It now (in 1906) has a population of over 130,000 and may be taken as a representative manufacturing city. As a concrete local study, the present investigation of juvenile delinquency in Worcester has been undertaken with this three-fold object in view -- to ascertain -- 1st, the extent and character of juvenile offenses; 2nd, the present mode of dealing with them; and 3rd, the changes or improvements that might be suggested by a comparison with the methods in vogue elsewhere. The data here presented have been obtained from the official records supplemented by material from other sources.
