Abstract
We analyze the large-N phase transition phenomenon in lattice gauge and chiral models. In particular, we prove the existence of a large-N phase transition in 4d lattice QCD without fermions and present a physical understanding of why it takes place. The phase transition occurs at g2N = 2.53. © 1982.
