The aim of this thesis is to analyze Mitchell's presentation of the deep connection between the human mind and the present situation of the global society in Cloud Atlas. Referencing Mitchell's other works and drawing on secondary literature on the author, structural implications of Cloud Atlas are reflected upon in order to show how the novel negotiates the role of the individual in an ever more complex world.
