In 1893, Clark University exhibited materials from the University at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. It is not known which photographs of this series were actually included in the exhibit. This photo shows Professor Albert A. Michelson's refractometer. Michelson would become the first American physicist to win the Nobel Prize.
