Abstract

This study is a survey of past and present land utilization practices within New York's Adirondack Mountains. Trends of development and change are presented with physical environmental controls woven thoroughly into each phase of utilization and adjustment. Environment has always been and will continue to be a dominant control in mountain land utilization practices. A thorough and logical development of trends and existing conditions is herein presented. Contents are based on facts obtained during years of study, survey, and exploration.
