Abstract

This thesis gives an account f the geography of the Kalutara District and analyses the causes that led to the development of settlement types and their distribution as found today in this district .

This study id divided into two parts. The first part is a treatment of the location, relief, climate, vegetation and soils, and gives a picture of the physical base of the area. The second part deals with the evolution of the types of settlements and their distribution.

Comments

*Ceylon was Sri Lanka's name under British rule. Dominion status came in 1948 and became a republic in 1972, which is when the country changed to Sri Lanka.
